Founded in 2000 by two news junkies from their Chicago apartment, RealClearPolitics started as a passion for combing the Internet for the most interesting political stories of the day. Tom Bevan and John McIntyre wanted a site that contained the most needed information on the need-to-know issues. It wasn't long before they discovered they weren't the only ones with this desire. John McIntyre

Co-founder & CEO

John McIntyre is the President and CEO of Real Clear Holdings, LLC parent company of RealClearPolitics. John co-founded the site in 2000 with Princeton University classmate Tom Bevan. Before launching RealClearPolitics, John worked as an independent trader on the floor of the Chicago Board Options Exchange. He previously worked at Steve Fossett’s commodities trading company as a market-maker on the floor of the Chicago Board Options Exchange. Prior to working in Chicago, John worked in Sydney, Australia selling managed futures funds for Ord Minnett and in Santiago, Chile for América Economía.

John has appeared on numerous networks and programs including CNBC, FOX News, MSNBC, C-Span, CNN, Reuters, BBC, The O'Reilly Factor, The Kudlow Report, and Special Report. As a result of John’s business leadership, RealClear now employs over 50 people and RealClearPolitics has become one of the most respected political brands in the country.

Tom Bevan

Co-founder & Publisher

Tom Bevan is the Co-Founder and Executive Editor of RealClearPolitics. In addition to overseeing the editorial staff and writing regular features for RealClearPolitics, Tom’s work has appeared in numerous publications and he is featured frequently as a political analyst on Fox News, CNN, CNBC, and the BBC.

Tom hosts a weekly radio show on defense on 89 WLS in Chicago. He is also co-author with Carl Cannon of two eBooks on Election 2012: The Battle Begins and A Time for Choosing. They are currently working on a book about the future of the Republican Party.

Anand Ramanujan

CTO

Anand Ramanujan is Chief Technology Officer at RealClear and has been with the company since fall 2005. Anand has spent the last 9 years focused on news aggregation and ad serving technologies. BuzzTracker, a blog aggregation tool developed by Anand was sold to Yahoo in 2007. He is also Cofounder of Publir, an online ad services company.

Prior to joining RealClear, he worked as a Sr. Project Manager at LightSky, a web development firm based in Indiana. Prior to that, he worked for four years as Manager of Business Services at Participate Systems, a provider of online community technology products and services.

Anand holds a Bachelor's degree in engineering from Osmania University (India), a Master's degree in Broadcast Journalism from Northwestern University and a MBA from University of Notre Dame.

Erin Waters

President, RealClear Media Group

Waters oversees the business operations and vertical content channels for RealClearPolitics, increasing its overall audience and revenue while helping to promote and expand the existing platform.

Before joining RealClearPolitics, she served as publisher of Governing, a media organization focused on state and local information, and was responsible for editorial and business operations. During her tenure, Governing received industry recognition, including Jesse H. Neal Award, ASBPE Magazine of the Year and FOLIO Eddie, and it achieved revenue growth across the business platform.

Previously, Waters was at National Journal and Congressional Quarterly. A graduate of Rice University, she lives in Washington, D.C.

She joined RealClearPolitics in 2012 after working as a research assistant at the Transatlantic Academy, a research partnership between the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) and the ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius. Previously, she coordinated the Jarbidge Resource Management Plan at the U.S. Department of Interior, Bureau of Land Management. She has also worked in operations and business development for multiple small businesses in Idaho and California. Carl M. Cannon is the Washington Bureau Chief of RealClearPolitics. Carl is a past recipient of the Gerald R. Tom Kavanagh has been a Copy Editor for RealClearPolitics since 2011. Prior to that, he was the morning editor for AOL’s DefenseDaily, which followed an 18-year stint at the Washington Post, where his last position was deputy chief of the Style copy desk. Earlier roles include reporter, critic and editor at several other newspapers, including the Baltimore Sun, where he served as the arts editor. Tom has a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Towson University and a master of liberal arts degree from Johns Hopkins.

Sean Trende is the Senior Elections Analyst for RealClearPolitics. He is the author of "The Lost Majority: Why the Future of Government Is Up for Grabs and Who Will Take It," and will co-author the forthcoming Almanac of American Defense 2014. Before becoming a full-time political analyst, Sean practiced law for eight years at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, and Hunton & Williams LLP, where he represented clients in a variety of contexts, from state trial courts to the Supreme Court of the United States. Sean earned a juris doctorate from Duke University, a master's degree in political science from Duke University and bachelor's degree from Yale University.

In 2010, he earned a Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Washington.
